What Are Threads?

Once we're tracking your filter, you can add other cool threads to it. Threads are other symbols that we use to prefix sub-categories of your filter. I know, it sounds complicated. It's not. Here's an example of me using a trigger to create a new thread in the Tweatspace filter:

philnelson ^tweatspace !documentation I'm explaining what threads are to new users on Tweatspace.

The exclamation mark (!) tells Tweatspace that you're creating a new thread inside your project, just like on a BBS or Message Board. In the message above I've added a thread to my ^tweatspace project, called !documentation. This makes it easier to track individual aspects of your company, project, or idea.

With Tweatspace, you can even further divide your filters and threads in to sub-threads. Check this out:

philnelson ^tweatspace !documentation ~copyediting I totally rewrote this introduction to threads 16 times today.

These extra threads are totally optional, and you can use or not use them at your discretion. Once Tweatspace is tracking your filter, it will automatically pick up any threads or sub-threads you use.

Got that? I hope so. If you're ready, we can get down to brass tacks and start using Tweatspace →
